Benefits Students Receive from Participating in STF
- Students learn to articulate human rights concepts and share them with their peers, and their communities at large.
- Thanks to regular advocacy opportunities, students learn to engage those in power in order to achieve change.
- STF members learn how to evaluate problems and independently discover ways to address them, harnessing the leadership skills they work on each week.
- Each campaign requires students to build relationships and network with students, faculty, parents, administrators and other stakeholders in their campus communities and beyond.

“This group gives me a sense of community, a space to share ideas and resources. I have learned a lot of different strategies for advocacy, engagement and recruitment that have helped on my campus.”
“Before joining STF, I saw activism as a nice thought but not something that makes a difference. But now I’m seeing how much can be accomplished. It’s amazing to hear success stories of how other STF leaders are getting administrators to install solar on campus or embed climate education into their classes. It’s so cool that they’re able to get that done by just using their voices!”
“I never truly felt that I was making a difference until I joined Student Task Force. Our social media campaigns, meetings with government officials, and community events had a definitive impact on both my school and my community.”
“I’ve gotten to know everyone on these calls so well that I see us as a family. It’s important to give students ways to connect across campuses. I cannot imagine not having this platform to collaborate with other students. It’s a way to feel like you’re involved in something bigger than just your school. I get such valuable advice from other Chapters and it’s good to have a group like this to support one another while holding each other accountable.”
“By giving youth such a great deal of respect and responsibility, STF empowers students like myself to become passionate, dynamic, and active citizens. It allows us to mobilize both our local and global communities as we build our individual leadership styles and ultimately teaches us lessons that we will take with us for the rest of our lives.”
