Please meet Brian W., STF Leader at Da Vinci Schools, and learn about his journey as the President of his chapter!

Name: Brian W.

School: Da Vinci Schools

Graduation Year: 2026

STF Title: President

STF Member Since: Aug. 2023

STF Team: What made you want to join STF?

Brian: I feel like STF’s mission statement and advocating for human rights aligned with my values and beliefs. I saw them at our club fair and I stopped by their booth because I care about human rights issues.

STF Team: What goals and leadership skills do you hope to achieve with STF?

Brian: No one in my family has gone to college, so I want to be the first person to go to college and attend law school. STF’s mission, values, and advocacy has aligned with my goals to become a politician or attorney with a focus on family and immigration law.

I want to develop my advocacy skills. I know that is broad, but I am learning how to be confident when speaking up for something. Recently, the STF team sent us an infographic to call our representatives and take action against H.R. 9495. If it weren’t for STF, I would never have thought to call my representative. STF has given me the confidence to do something like that.

STF Team: What was that experience like for you?

Brian: I have never had direct contact with a Congressional representative like that. I emailed, called, and then I got on the line with someone on her team. I did research beforehand and it seemed like I had more information on the bill than they did, so that gave me the even more confidence.

STF Team: What are some of your greatest takeaways from STF so far?

The greatest has been the confidence I’ve gained. I would not have been able to half the things if it weren’t for STF. Seeing other high schoolers has really inspired me to speak up. It’s nice to know I am not alone in that.
