March 6 – March 11, 2025: STFers from Ánimo Venice, Wildwood, and New Roads schools mobilized their communities through events, including film screenings, panel discussions with housing activists, and myth-busting trivia. They encouraged peers to take action for housing justice and highlighted the power of joining STF for collective action.

March 6, 2025: Housing activists Sonja Verdugo-Baumgartner and John Raphling spoke to the freshman class at Ánimo Venice Charter HS, sharing insights on alternatives to criminalization and the firsthand experiences of unhoused people in Los Angeles. The event concluded with the STF chapter introducing their petition to LA Mayor Karen Bass and collecting signatures to advocate for ending policies that criminalize the unhoused. This was a follow up to their recent screening of the “Swept” documentary.

March 10, 2025: Wildwood STF hosted a presentation on STF’s mission, activities, and structure, fostering an engaging discussion on human rights and advocacy. Participants engaged in a myth-versus-fact trivia game based on STF’s Action Plans, challenged misconceptions, explored key issues, and deepened their understanding of human rights. The event sparked meaningful conversations about advocacy, with several participants expressing interest in joining STF’s efforts for housing justice.
